March Update

In March our family made a major change - I left my full time job to spend more time with Mallie and focus on LindseysWhimsys.  It was pretty scary making the jump but it was a great decision and I am very thankful to be spending more time with my baby girl.

The highlight of March came on the 9th when Mallie took her first out of start trip to the swamps of Louisiana.  After a couple naps and lots of playing, finally we got to meet her new cousin, Baby Jack Michael (Jack's mommy is Megan of Megan's MerryGoRound).

 

During March, Mallie's diet increased... but her like of food decreased.  In the middle of the month she started refusing to eat chicken and banana.  She loves our dog Mackie and playing outsider is her favorite.  She has started sniffing and scrunching up her nose when she is excited... when you sniff back at her she thinks is hilarious and returns the sniff... its a silly game.

Mallie took her second trip to Warrington and was a great tag along shopper. 

And of course, pictures in the bluebonnets!  Mallie met the Easter Bunny and later loved picking up eggs during an Easter Egg hunt.  She did not do a very good job holding onto the eggs but she sure did try!

At the end of March, Mallie became a 8 month old baby!  Time flies when you are having fun!
 

Megans Merry Go Round

Mallie's First Road/Overnight Trip

This past week Mallie took her first road/overnight trip to my parents home in Brenham.  Mr. Whimsys had some meetings that had him driving through town so me and the baby hitched a ride with him.  It was a great trip and Mallie got to meet some people that are super special to our family.  

One of the first trips was to visit my Grandma who was super happy to see her.  She would ask everyone the came through the room (she is currently staying in a retirement home for rehab) if they met her granddaughter - and when I say everyone, I mean everyone from the nurses to cleaning crew to other patients visitors.

Meet Malinda Rose

Our sweet Baby Whimsy arrived Monday July 30 at 8:12PM.  She weighted 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 20 inches long.  We named her Malinda Rose and call her Mallie.  She is pretty much perfect.

It was an all day affair on Monday; Mr. Whimsy and I headed to the hospital around 4AM that morning, and the Dr. said we could stay when she made her rounds around 8:30 AM.  We called BeBe (my mom) and MiMi (Mr. Whimsys mom) and asked them to spread the word.  

BeBe, Grandpa Jimbo, MiMi, Grandpa TC, Aunt Megan, Aunt Kristin and Aunt Marilyn were there to welcome sweet Mallie into the world.

Since being home Mallie has been the picture of the perfect newborn.  She rarely cries (only when she is hungry, chilly, getting a washcloth bath or getting her diaper changed) and would sleep throughout the night if she didn't need to be fed - I sometimes have to wake her up to feed her.  We know this won't last forever but are enjoying it while it does!

29 Weeks :: Comparison

29 weeks and going strong

12ish(?) years ago, my 29-week pregnant cousin-in-law, Sara, gave birth to twins, a girl and a boy.  At 11 weeks early, both were tiny miracles but with God's grace they were able to develop into strong and healthy kids.  Today they are still going strong and are healthy, smart, and overall, remarkable pre-teens.  

It's amazing to me that I am at the same point in my pregnancy that Sara was when she had the twins.  It really puts my own pregnancy into perspective.  I am grateful for each day Baby Whimsy gets to stay inside of me to grow stronger and I pray she gets the full 40 weeks to develop in the womb... that being said I understand God's timing is best so we rely on it.

That all beings said, at my most recent Dr.'s appointment, I was told everything looked and sounded great.  The baby (at least my bump) is developing as expected and Baby Whimsy has a good strong heartbeat.  I was told her activity would only increase as she grew bigger... I am not sure that is possible though!  She seems to be a gymnast...or karate kid... in the making.  More on that next post!

Visiting Megan

This weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting my little sister, Megan, and her new husband, John, at their home in Louisiana.  It was a super fun weekend and this loft style apartment is VERY cool... I have a little bit of house envy!

This picture was taken after we brought a tornado of mess inside... it was spotless when we arrived.

Because of the limited storage space, Meggo has been pretty creative with some of her storage... apparently this closet housing the AC vent is the ideal temperature for wine!  

A little cuter version of creative storage is this - I love the mugs hanging on a display plate rack!  Super cute and so smart!

This old frame is really cute to display photos in.  She actually hung the frame from the back and attached the ribbon just to make it cuter.
